Christmas is fast approaching, November and December has been crazy, with a mad rush for those last minute photo shoots. There's lots planned for the New Year starting on 2nd January for company headshots. I'm looking forward to taking a small break before that. I hope you're prepared or preparing for the Christmas break, and will enjoy time with family and friends.
This is my last newsletter of 2019, so scroll down to see what I've been up to on my side of the lens.
Jobs undertaken in November and december
I was commissioned by Foodco to cover the launch of their brand new Jamaica Blue cafe in the Beacon Shopping Centre in Eastbourne. The brief was to capture the shop fitting while empty and then when full of people enjoying the coffee and atmosphere. I managed to grab a few coffees while I was there, and being a major coffee drinker, this is one of the best coffees I've had! Check them out if you're in Eastbourne over Christmas. They also own Muffin Break!
Over the past six months I've been working alongside agencies who either build websites or help businesses market themselves. I've had some great jobs in November and December for a jewellers and building consultants. I love this varied work, I learn lots about the clients and learn more about different sectors and industries.
November 21st, saw The Grand Hotel in Brighton, host the annual Business Women's, Excellence Awards. Organised by Carrot Events, the evening was a glamorous night, celebrating women in business from all sectors. I was photographing the evening, including all the winners. Pictured left are the Phileas Fogg World of Adventure team for the most Entertaining Business of 2019 in Sussex.
Hawes Building, continued their work this month and I was asked for the third time to document the progress at Elm Road Eastbourne. This small shop unit was in a very rundown state. I've watched it transform under the experienced and skilled Hawes Building team. From dank and dark to bright, white and clean.
I attended the Business Show at London's Excel at the start of December. It was a fantastic day, listening to some experts in the marketing, business and PR fields. I even got to do a little bit of speed networking. I met some great business owners and arranged a few meetings for the New Year. It was good to take a day out of the office and studio to concentrate on other things. Even managed a half decent picture on my very old iPhone.
....and finally. As we approach Christmas I've decided that this year I'm going to take a couple of weeks off to spend time with my six year old. It's such a magical time for children and I don't want to miss it. From Friday 20th December, my email and mobile will still be on, but I won't now be shooting on location until January 2020. It's a risk for a self employed business owner, but your children grow up fast and you never get that back. Please continue to contact me for 2020 work. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
